Dress (tick), accessories (tick). Don't forget your make up! We've made it easy for you and narrowed it down to three key looks to try for the big night!
LOOK 1: Just because it's the night of your formal it doesn't mean you have to pile on the make-up. This look are for those who are not used to, or like wearing a lot of make up. Keep it simple, as the aim is to keep it as natural as possible.
The main focus of this look is dewy highlighted skin and bold brows. Apply highlighter to the high points of your face i.e your cheek bones and brow bones to give you that extra glow.
LOOK 2: A classic look, the bold red lip is a popular choice for formal and a great way to add colour to a simple outfit. Use a bronzer on the hollows of your cheek bones and where the sun would naturally hit to enhance your tan.
HOT TIP: Line and fill in your lips with a lip liner in the same shade as the lipstick for all night staying power.
LOOK 3: Make it as dramatic or subtle as you like, the smokey eye is another classic look that can be adapted to suit everyone. This is perfect for those who are a bit more deft with a make-up brush. Use a black or brown eye shadow to create your smokey eye, and don't forget to highlight the inner corners to make your eyes pop! As the saying goes, the eyes are the window to the soul.. so add some drama with a pair of false lashes.
HOT TIP from make-up extraodinaire Laura Mercier: “Take the lightest colour and wash over the entire eye, gradually building it vertically towards the arch of the eyebrow. Then take the medium or dark intensity colour and softly start to darken the eyelids from the outer corner, inwards so that the lightest part is nearest your nose and the darkest part is nearest your ear.”
